The Lost Lands Fantasy Adventure Game
What's New
----------
Version 1.7 - Released: March 17, 1994
- Reduced memory required by TLL by using overlays. TLL now takes
advantage of EMS or XMS memory. Game has run in 410k and can be
expanded greatly without much more memory in future releases.
- A 386/486 version has been added for registered users.
- A KEY file approach has been taken to registration. There are still
two distinct versions (i.e. You have to get the right version off a
support board, but you don't need to download YOUR specific .EXE file).
- Game Enhancements:
* Ring of teleportation support has been added for future use
in ModulePaks.
* Stores will now credit your bank account for purchases if you
do not have the money on hand.
* Experience points spreads are distributed properly - bigger monsters
give much better experience.
* New Prompt has been added; Displays HP and Fatigue.
[See the PROMPT command in Game Commands Document]
* Three new Guild Leader commands have been implemented, see
TLLCMDS.DOC for information on SIT, TITHE, and LIST MEMBERS.
* Guards and other monsters are (a bit) more intelligent.
* Now also tracks player time via BIOS timer, for multi-line
DesqView systems.
- Corrected Bugs:
* Priests cannot BUY spells; This was never the intention of the game,
the priests are only supposed to learn spells when they gain levels.
* No more: "DRINK SALVE" and have it print "You drink the Sabre."
* The "stray from the path" resurrection logic is fixed.
* Character names can now end with "A", "THE" and "AT" in CHARGEN.
* DOOR.SYS drop file support works correctly.
* Training logic corrected.
Version 1.6 - Released: January 22, 1994
- Reduced memory required by TLL - Can run in 480k.
- Tameness level added in installation program. SysOp can configure how
often players get 'knocked unconscious' instead of dying. With this new
system, players between levels 1 - 10 are able to be knocked unconscious.
- UPDATE.EXE program used, instead of INSTALL.EXE to update old registered
versions. Only replaces necessary files and doesn't reset quests.
- Now contains a variable, DESQ=, which controls whether or not TLL optimizes
itself for DesqView. Systems which run very slow with multiple windows
should try this setting.
- SysOp documentation has been cleaned up and registration information is
now in REGISTER.DOC.
- Game Enhancements:
* Permenant effect items added - (rings of protection, etc).
* Room Traps implemented.
* Piety detect spells added.
* Food and Drink can have a wider variety of effects.
- Corrected Bugs:
* The game keeps time properly between CHARGEN.EXE/TLL.EXE.
* Spell casters gain spell ability faster.
(Including Rangers/Paladins/Bard)
Version 1.52 - Released: November 20, 1993
- Challenges cost nothing and the reward is based on the defenders level.
- Identify-type spells are a bit more descriptive.
- Corrected Bugs:
* Shopkeepers don't attack people for no reason.
* Players were hidden after they declined a challenge.
* USE(ing) items with spells imbedded now works correctly.
Version 1.51 - Released: November 12, 1993
- TLL puts dead players back into CHARGEN.
- Characters have a CHANCE of being "knocked unconscious" instead of being
killed between levels 1-3. This can be toggled ON/OFF by the Sysop using
either the install program or in CONFIG.TLL.
- Combat Description files updated for four-legged animals. No more: "The
rat laughs as you swing to far to the right!"
- README.DOC updated with v1.5x information.
- CHARGEN.EXE has been Improved:
- Asks for confirmation on Exit of program.
- Full instructions are available at login.
- INSTALL.EXE has been updated with Unconsciousness check-box.
Version 1.5 - Released: November 3, 1993
- Added several new commands:
* GIVE - Allows players to give items to each other.

COM1.

* Guild Masters who died by another class now reappear after TLLPURGE.EXE.
Version 1.4 - Released: October 11, 1993
- CHARGEN.EXE fixed; If the SysOp uses [F10] KickOut, it actually kicks him
out, not back into the TLL/CHARGEN loop. Also, the EXIT now works even if
a player has a dead character.
- Added functionality to the INSTALL.EXE program
- Completely rewritten with a nicer appearance.
- INSTALL is copied to the TLL directory and remembers what your settings are.
- May use INSTALL to change configuration options instead of modifying
CONFIG.TLL manually.
- On a complete install a BULLETIN.TLL is generated with a message to donate
in order to assist registration. (Delete if not needed/wanted).

* SUICIDE command: Players can kill themselves.
